If you’ve been waiting for the right time to speak up for Knowles-Nelson, it might just be right now.
The Wisconsin Conservation Congress citizen resolution process gives residents across the state a way to put issues on the public record, county by county. When the same resolution shows up in spring hearings across Wisconsin, it sends a clear signal about what people value and want to protect.
From January 5 through February 9, we’re asking supporters to submit a Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program citizen resolution on behalf of their county through the Wisconsin Conservation Congress.
We’ve already developed the resolution language. You don’t need to craft language on your own, just use the text we’ve provided when submitting your resolution. When the same issue is raised by residents across counties statewide, it demonstrates just how broad the support is for Knowles-Nelson.
If you’ve already submitted a resolution, thank you! Please let us know so we can track participation across the state!
As always, continue to contact your legislators! Last week, the Assembly passed a Knowles-Nelson reauthorization that would largely eliminate land acquisition, one of the Stewardship Program’s most effective and defining features. The bills now move to the Senate, and it’s crucial that policymakers hear clearly and often that protecting land for public access is essential and non‑negotiable.
Thank you for continuing to speak up for Wisconsin’s conservation legacy!
