Sarah’s biking every State Trail this October.

Starting October 1, our friend and fellow trail lover Sarah Widder is taking on something BIG: biking every single state trail in Wisconsin, all in one month. We’re calling it the Great State Trails Adventure, and it’s as much a celebration of these trails as it is a reminder of what’s at stake for them.

Most of the trails Sarah will ride exist because of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, which for almost 40 years helped fund the land, trails, and parks that make Wisconsin, well, Wisconsin. While we’re all working to bring the program back after it lapsed this past June, Sarah’s ride is also our way of spotlighting a bigger conversation about how Wisconsin keeps investing in its bike trails and outdoor recreation infrastructure going forward.

Sarah’s kicking things off on October 1 on the Red Cedar Trail. Along the way, she’ll be supported by local Friends groups, land trusts, and other trail advocates, who’ll help tell the story of what these trails mean to their communities and what it will take to secure the future of bicycle and outdoor recreation infrastructure across Wisconsin.

Here’s how you can be a part of the Great State Trails Adventure:
