State Building Commission Approves Grants For 29 Improvement Projects At DNR Properties

Friends Grants from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program will support park and trail improvement projects.

Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced the approval of $373,900 in Friends Grants from the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program to be awarded to 24 nonprofit organizations for 29 improvement projects at DNR properties.

DNR partners with Friends Groups and nonprofit conservation organizations that work to improve park facilities and restore habitat on state properties. Each year, $500,000 in Knowles-Nelson funds are budgeted for the Friends Grant program, making property development projects at the DNR’s state parks, trails, forests and other state lands possible.

This year, Stewardship Program funding will be distributed to 24 nonprofit organizations to improve state parks and trails across the state of Wisconsin that are owned by the DNR. To see the full list of projects, read the DNR’s press release.
