Senator Habush Sinykin Backs PFAS Legislation, Republicans Block Efforts to Lower Costs and Reauthorize Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program

Senate Republicans again reject a one-year extension of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program, leaving its future uncertain.

In a press release following this week’s Wisconsin State Senate floor session, State Sen. Jodi Habush Sinykin (D-08) called out continued inaction on the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.

Sen. Habush Sinykin introduced an amendment to extend Knowles-Nelson for one year to prevent a funding lapse while negotiations continue. That proposal was rejected, leaving the Stewardship Program’s future uncertain.

“Republican Leadership does not value the Stewardship Program like Wisconsinites do,” Habush Sinykin said in her statement, noting that efforts to keep the Stewardship Program in place have now been blocked multiple times in recent weeks.
