Governor Visits Fox Lake For Clausen Park Project Groundbreaking

Knowles-Nelson Stewardship grant will fund improvements to lakefront park.

The City of Fox Lake recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a reimagined Clausen Park. A Daily Dodge article details that Fox Lake plans to redevelop the park to improve water access for boating & fishing, increase accessibility, and update its aging facilities.

A $315,000 Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program grant was awarded to Fox Point that will help fund the project, which includes improvements to the boat launch, fishing pier & kayak launch, a renovated playground, and updated pathways and lighting.

Waupun Pioneer reported the groundbreaking ceremony had several hundred in attendance, including students from several area schools. Attendees heard remarks from some of those students along with community members, city staff, members of the State Legislature, and Governor Evers, who spoke on the importance of projects like Clausen Park and the ways it will foster connection with each other and to nature.

“I’m proud that through the DNR’s Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program we were able to provide the city of Fox Lake about $315,000 for this important renovation… because our parks and our playgrounds and our beaches and trails and other natural areas are important resources for our kids, families, and all individuals… get outside… get fresh air and exercise… and make great places for members of the community to come together and connect,” said Evers.
