A Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program grant will help fund construction of a new bicycle and pedestrian trail that will connect the town of Westport to Governor Nelson State Park in Dane County, as published in the Daily Reporter.
This expansion will be part of the North Mendota Trail, and “will improve a crosswalk at Westport’s Woodland Drive and build a quarter-mile-long boardwalk along the south side of a nearby section of County Highway M,” as well as installing a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over Six Mile Creek.
The $1.2 million project will be the latest on this trail, with Dane County working on other upgrades in recent years.
