Prescott City Council approves contract for Magee Park

The City of Prescott was awarded a $280,700 grant for improvements at Magee Park.

In a recap of Prescott’s March 25th city council meeting, Pierce County Journal reported that upgrades to Magee Park are underway.

The City of Prescott worked with project partner Cedar Corporation to prepare and submit a Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Grant application for the addition of a parking lot and accessible asphalt trail to Magee Park. Redevelopment would complement the nearby Coulee River Trails network and solidify Prescott as a hub for outdoor recreation.

In February 2024, Prescott was awarded a $280,700 Knowles-Nelson grant, which enabled the city to move forward in approving Cedar Corporation’s contract for design and construction. Construction is planned to be completed by November 2024.

Since 1989, the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program has worked to stretch local government dollars further by providing matching grants that support projects like trails, boat launches, park shelters, and land purchases.
